]]>Who you gonna call? Well if you’re looking for some cool looking mashed up geek art, then you should think about giving artist Mikeatron a ring. He has a way of mixing up geeky themes that not only looks great, but are amusing at the same time. His art includes things like a piranha plant from Super Mario mixed with Nyan cat PacMan ghosts mixed with Ghostbusters and Beebop and Rocksteady as Calvin and Hobbes.
Be sure to checkout Mikeatron’s full portfolio for a huge dose of nerdy goodness.
In need of a splash of color with your Geek Art, Agents of Geek has you covered. We Tumbld upon the art of Mikeatron recently and fell in love with his combination of explosive colors and dark humor. While searching his blog we uncovered some amazing geek art from Star Wars, Ghostbusters, The Legend of Zelda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

]]>The post Fan made TARDIS Control room by Todd appeared first on Nerd Crafting.
]]>As far as TARDIS’s go, there’s only a few ways fans typically make them. And that’s a big or small blue box that goes somewhere. What isn’t typical is when you’ve opened the door to go inside is to find an entire control room there. Especially not one as crazy as the one YouTuber Todd has created. It’s got so many bells and whistles that it’s hard to see all of them in a single viewing. There’s switches and knobs galore. There’s a working computer built into the panels. Heck, there’s even a flux capacitor. Which is a nice touch if I do say so myself.
Of course any description I try to give really won’t do it justice, so be sure to watch the video below to see this magnificent piece of work.
And we begin this week with a moment of appreciation for one man’s single-minded devotion to the TARDIS. As regular Who’s Day readers will know, quite a few Whovians have the skills required to knock up a police box, whether as a shed, or a cake, or the front of their wardrobe.
However, YouTuber The Todd deserves a round of applause, as he has spent over a year creating a TARDIS in his back garden that contains a console that actually serves as a serviceable work desk, complete with hidden keyboard, DVD-drive (and what looks like some 8-track cartridges), screen, and flux capacitor.

]]>I think it’s pretty clear by now that I love LEGO stuff, and I love when lego stuff crosses over into my other fandoms. This LEGO blaster pistol created by Captain Infinity most definitely qualifies.

Click to view slideshow.Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.
The famed pistol wielded by Han Solo in Star Wars. I have been meaning to build one of these for a while, and category 19 was the perfect chance to do so! I focused especially on fitting as many details as I can on it, and getting the overall shape as accurate as possible. I based this model of the most iconic version of his gun, as I know there are many other versions. I did have to make a Bricklink order to make this as accurate as possible.

]]>I have a distinct memory of a blue wooden bookshelf in my childhood bedroom that contained a whole bunch of Little Golden Books. These little video game books by Joebot are an adorable throwback to these old style kids books. I’m not sure how much they contributed to my current love of reading, but they certainly have a fond spot in my memories.
Be sure to check out Joebots’ gallery for a look at all of his work.
As the sun sets on this current generation of video games, I’ve been thinking about some of the classic games that people will still (hopefully) point to years from now and hold them up as games that made a difference, and possibly, for some child out there, Portal or Skyrim will be a memory from their early childhood.

]]>I can’t even begin to imagine how much time it took Michael Birken to put this post it note arcade animation together. Well I can, kind of. It took him 96 days, spread out over 11 months. Of course that’s just the data. The reality of having a project constantly on the go for nearly a year is pretty mind boggling. The way it turned out was amazing though.
This stop motion tribute to my 2 favorite old school arcade games is based on actual recorded game footage. The recordings were printed out, one frame at a time, and transferred by hand to various walls around my office floor using thousands of Post-It Notes. The process consumed weekends and holidays for the past 11 months. Changing background scenery was masked out and replaced with 1 consistent frame throughout the animation, producing an eerie stillness amid the moving images on the walls.

]]>I’ve been a long time cross sticher. Like 25+ years long. I love the craft, but for some reason I hadn’t really mixed my love of cross stitching with my love of video games until quite recently. Why? I have no idea, it just hadn’t occurred to me. Per Fhager however has turned video game cross stitching into an art (literally.. he’s had some of his work up in an art gallery). Knowing how long these things take, I can only say WOW. Each piece has hours and hours poured into them. How anybody could sell one of these is beyond me, which is why I typically only sell the patterns on Etsy.
I’ve been playing video games since I started going to school. I was instantly fascinated by the movement, music, colours, sheer challenge and above all the graphics. I remember being completely mesmerized by the pixel aesthetics and could spent hours with my nose almost touching the TV-screen, copying sprites onto graph paper. Since then the unique world of video games has influenced and inspired my creative expression. I have a textile background based on a genuine interest in many techniques found within the field, including needle point which is related to embroidery. In my early teens I experimented with needle point designs based on video game pixel graphics, and about ten years later I once more made the connection which led up to my first piece which was finalised in 2008. I soon realised this would only be the first of many scenes from video games I wanted to recreate in this way.

]]>In order to get the little ones ready for a lifetime of geekdom correctly, you can take a page out of Carissa XY’s book and create a Star Wars themed baby room for your little one. The centerpiece of which is a super awesome Star Wars mobile with a plush death star, x-wing, tie fighter, star destroyer and of course an adorable little plush millenium falcon. Too cute!

I’m Carissa and I’ve been married to my high school crush for almost 8 years! We have a 3 year old old genius for a son, and another son on the way! I love Jesus, Qdoba, Silverchair, taking pictures, puppies, doughnuts, quoting things, Christmas, sunsets, and getting my back scratched.

Click to view slideshow.Marko calls his recent work “Superhero Noir Posters”, with each one featuring a superhero in a scene that many fans would recognize. Anyone can slap a superhero (or two) onto a poster and share it with the whole world, but it does takes a special kind of something to make it dark and utterly beautiful. While I do love my poppy colors, Marko’s superhero noir posters make something stir deep inside me. Take a look for yourself, and you just might see what I mean.

]]>At a price tag of €6500 (~7300US) this table doesn’t come anywhere close to cheap, but for the ultimate Inception fan, it might just be worth it.
Inspired by a film this table is a well balanced mixture of wood, steel and 3D printed technology.

]]>Having recently gotten back into creating some Perler bead creations, I’ve been looking at a lot more videos that use them to make crafts. Most of them are basically just pixel art (which I think is cool) but every now and then I run across a 3D design that really stands out. That’s definitely the case with this.. case. This 3D Perler bead Zelda chest looks incredible. I wish they spent a bit more time explaining their technique for getting the top to curve the way it does, because I think that’s one of the coolest parts.
