]]>I am LOVE the stuff that the fine folks at Man at Arms make. It’s crazy professional looking. Hell it’s crazy professional being. The sword of omens video is no exception. It’s like they took a small part of my childhood and brought it to life.
There really aren’t enough words to express just how cool I think this is.
Every week our master swordsmith and renowned propmaster, Tony Swatton, forges iconic weapons using high-speed belt grinders, scorching furnaces, and pounding power hammers. Then he takes his weapon to the streets to bust up some stuff.
This week Tony is creating the Sword of Omens wielded by Lion-O.
NOTE: Tony Swatton and Man At Arms have no connection to or involvement with the Thundercats franchise.

]]>I still haven’t figured out what the fish is from, so either it’s just a fish, or I missed that reference completely.
Kudo’s to leilaniac for putting this crazy list of nerd squares together for our use, and I hope that his nephew truly enjoys the amount of nerdyness that’s on this blanket.
I created the square designs in Excel, using a variety of pictures, text art, etc., as sources. (See my Pratchgan square for a better description of intarsia charting in Excel.)
The squares are 40×48 (plus 2 buffer rows/stitches on each side), in sock yarn, on size 3 needles. Most of the yarn is ShiBui sock, with an assist from Lorna’s Laces Zombie BBQ.
I didn’t post the binary name (center) square, on the theory that no one would be interested in knitting a square with my nephew’s name on it.
All the sewing required to attach the knitted bits to blanket back and binding were done by my mom, because I can’t sew to save my life.
