Marko calls his recent work “Superhero Noir Posters”, with each one featuring a superhero in a scene that many fans would recognize. Anyone can slap a superhero (or two) onto a poster and share it with the whole world, but it does takes a special kind of something to make it dark and utterly beautiful. While I do love my poppy colors, Marko’s superhero noir posters make something stir deep inside me. Take a look for yourself, and you just might see what I mean.

Wood Panel Comic

If I ever get access to a laser cutter I may give this DIY wood comic book cover craft a try. Of course if I did, I’d probably end up making a version of Spawn, #1. I don’t know why, but it’s probably one of my all time favourite comic book cover.

The actual process looks pretty tricky, involving creating a vector image in either GIMP or CorelDRAW (for his laser cutter) and using different kinds of wood. But the finished product looks so incredibly slick that it might be worth learning how to do all that to get one.

Originally I was going to laser etch the Amazing Fantasy cover into a solid piece of wood and then stain it different colors. Not only would that have been even more tedious and time consuming, once stain touches wood it is difficult to remove, thus allowing little room for error. I wanted something that would really pop and catch your eye on the wall so I altered the design to be three-dimensional. This was achieved by laying various species of wood veneer on top of balsa wood to give the illustrations depth, and then finally attaching all of the pieces to a solid wood board that can be mounted and displayed on a wall or bookshelf

Venom is one of my all time favourite super villains. I’ve always been partial to black as a colour, and when he turned spiderman from a red suit to a black suit, it just looked amazing (spiderman.. Sorry. I had to)

This is the second time I’ve featured SniperLyLa on this site, and that’s because her makeup is AWESOME!

I don’t know if she speaks english or not, but regardless, her video is pretty universal.

Venom, or the Venom Symbiote, is a fictional extraterrestrial life form appearing in books published by Marvel Comics, usually those featuring Spider-Man. The creature is a Symbiote, a sentient alien, with a gooey, almost liquid-like form that requires a host, usually human, to bond with for its survival, as with real world symbiotes, and to whom it endows enhanced powers. When the Venom Symbiote bonds with a human, that new dual-life form refers to itself as Venom

Spiderman Fan ArtI’ve always been a fan of the Spiderman franchise. Although I haven’t owned many of the actual comics myself, I have watched a LOT of the 80s animated series. Not to mention the 3 Sam Raimi movies.

My personal favourite “version” of Spiderman was the 90s comic “Spiderman 2099”. There was just something cool about the suit that the original Spiderman just didn’t seem to have. Sleek and stylish where the original was just too.. cartoony.

While I’ve always considered him to be one of the more goody-goody of the super hero’s, I think that if peter parker were ever to turn “to the dark side” as it were, this picture by Dan Burgess would capture him perfectly.

I love the way he’s captured the menace and the suit so well. I’m sure super villains would think twice about their work if they new this character was waiting for them in the shadows.
