]]>This lego build is over 100 pounds and over 3 meters long and a meter wide. It’s also made from over 40,000 pieces! Garry built this over the course of 5 months and sadly when he tried to get some photos of the underbelly, it gave into its own mass and ended up all over the garage floor.

This is all Lego from stem to stern. When I thought to build this one it was going to be much smaller than it is. Spending a lot of time over a 5 month period ( did not do a time count) and many constructions and deconstructions while the build continued, To strengthen its structure I added an 8 stud wide x 6 plates high and 2.4meters long strap down the middle of the ship to act as it’s back bone.

Kudo’s to leilaniac for putting this crazy list of nerd squares together for our use, and I hope that his nephew truly enjoys the amount of nerdyness that’s on this blanket.
I created the square designs in Excel, using a variety of pictures, text art, etc., as sources. (See my Pratchgan square for a better description of intarsia charting in Excel.)
The squares are 40×48 (plus 2 buffer rows/stitches on each side), in sock yarn, on size 3 needles. Most of the yarn is ShiBui sock, with an assist from Lorna’s Laces Zombie BBQ.
I didn’t post the binary name (center) square, on the theory that no one would be interested in knitting a square with my nephew’s name on it.
All the sewing required to attach the knitted bits to blanket back and binding were done by my mom, because I can’t sew to save my life.

Made up of two cylon warrior heads from Battlestar Galactica (2004 BSG) and using components from his grandmothers ring, Michael Moragne has designed and made one of the coolest engagement rings I’ve ever seen. Talk about a serious *puts on sunglasses* commitment to the show.
I wish both of them the best, and hope that their marriage lasts longer than the BSG remake.
. So say we all.
I only recently watched the entire BSG series. And now that it’s over, I miss it. There’s just something that it had that made you want to keep watching, and watching and watching. The characters were complex, the stories robust, and the acting superb. That, and the sexy cylons didn’t hurt either.
I have high hopes for the Blood & Chrome series. I really hope that they can turn it into a full fledged TV show, or at the very least, a longer running web show. I think it has the potential to bring back all the good stuff that caprica seemed to be missing.
The Cylons were created by man. They evolved. They rebelled. There are many copies. And they have a plan
