]]>I think most people had one song they enjoyed as a small child that probably drove their parents completely bonkers. Not because they’re bad songs. But because of the sheer number of times they get played. Over and over and over and over and over again. Well for me, that song was the Purple People Eater by Sheb Wooley. So when I saw this flying purple people eater plush, I just had to share. It’s super cute, which is kind of strange for a people eater, but there it is none the less. Plus it’s an instructable, so you can go ahead and give one of these guys a shot yourself!
Ok lets start with the reason I wanted to make a one eyed, one horned flying purple people eater. Well, because i didn’t have one and just because I can. I wanted the one eyed, one horned flying purple people eater to actually eat people. Felt people that is.
Well I saw the thing coming out of the sky
It had one long horn and one big eye
I commenced to shakin’ and I said oo-wee
It looks like a purple people eater to me
It was a one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater
One-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me

]]>If you were watching TV around the same time as I was when I was growing up, you’re probably familiar with the sounds made by these lovable little creatures known as yip yips. Known so, because that’s pretty much all they say. Typically these martians show up and come across a piece of earth stuff that’s mundane to us, but completely foreign to them.
This tutorial walks you through how to create one of these using crochet. Now I don’t really know how to crochet, but apparently these only use one type of stitch, so it shouldn’t be overly difficult if you want to make this your first project.
If you were a child in the 80s, like me, odds are you caught an episode or two of Sesame Street, and have fond memories of the Martians. Especially the time they tried to talk to the telephone – that was my favourite. In fact, I answered my own children’s questions with “yup, yup, yup, yup” or “nope, nope, nope, nope” so many times that I had to look up old clips on YouTube, so the poor things knew what on earth I was going on about.

]]>I do love me some Adventure Time, so I’m game for seeing crafts people make out of the show in pretty much any capacity, but these adorable little guys are some of the best crochet dolls I’ve seen so far.
I recently started watching Adventure Time on Cartoon Network UK with my boys (I only just found out we could get it on our subscription). It’s a great show, suitable for kids (maybe not very young ones) and adults – the humour’s fun and weird but not mean. It’s set in a colourful, fantastical post-apocalyptic world with Finn, a 12/13 year old boy (the only human we know of) and Jake the dog, who is capable of stretching or shrinking to almost any size or shape. They have all sorts of adventures – Finn is pretty handy with a sword – and sing cute little songs.

]]>Did you know you could play Pacman for free? I tried it out, and it works just like pacman is supposed to. Which means it kicks my rear every time I play it.
Also, make sure to check out some more of Penelope’s Instructables. There’s a LOT of them to choose from.
Pac-Man and his ghosts! This started as a project to just crochet Pac-Man. Then this expanded to making the ghosts, then to making the ghosts with movable eyes, and lastly to adding in covers to make the ghosts switch to dark blue. I am most pleased with how the ghosts turned out. Hope you enjoy!

]]>A few years ago I made my Star Wars mad son an Ewok amigurumi, Wicket to be precise. I posted it up on Craftster, and even managed to write a tutorial on how to make it. It was fairly rough, so in an attempt to practice my pattern-writing skills and try out making PDFs (in the hope that I will be able to put some of my patterns on Etsy)
